Crossing Jordan
"We will cross that Jordan together"

Statement of Belief

Love and Honor

We believe in honoring Yahweh with our lives through love and gratitude, not through endless rules or religious technicalities.

We believe the foundation of moral and honorable living is found in what Scripture calls the “Ten Words” (Aseret HaDibrot), commonly mistranslated as the Ten Commandments. These were never meant to be merely laws to enforce, but principles from Yahweh’s own heart, given to shape our character, guide our relationships, and direct our daily lives. They are standards people freely choose to walk in because of their love for and reverence toward Yahweh.

According to Yahshua, the greatest commandment is this:

“You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37, quoting Deuteronomy 6:5)

And He immediately added the second, which flows from the first:

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Leviticus 19:18)

We believe that when Yahshua answered this question, He revealed the true heart of all instruction: to love Yahweh with all our heart, soul, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

These two truths show us how to live with clear standards and values that honor Yahweh, through love, courage, integrity, faithfulness, and respect for others.

Our faith is not about mastering religious details, but about living out what matters most. Everything else, devotion, honor, justice, courage, purity, forgiveness and helping others, hangs on these two. Not religion or ritual, but relationship first.

What Does It Mean to Love Yahweh with All Your Heart, Soul, and Mind?

When Yahshua said we are to love Yahweh with all our heart, soul, and mind, He was not speaking in poetic exaggeration. He was using Hebrew thought to describe total devotion—a love that governs decisions, lifestyle, and purpose.

HEART — Lev (לֵב)

This is not merely emotion.

In Hebrew understanding, the heart represents:
• the will
• the choices
• the intentions
• the moral direction of a person

To love Yahweh with all your heart means:
• Aligning your decisions with His will
• Allowing Him to rule your desires
• Choosing allegiance, not just feelings

This kind of love is demonstrated through what you choose, not only what you feel.

SOUL — Nephesh (נֶפֶשׁ)

This refers to your life itself.

Nephesh means:
• breath
• a living being
• vitality
• physical life
• the self that must survive and function

To love Yahweh with all your soul means:
• Loving Him with your entire life
• With your body, habits, work, food, money, and time
• Not only in worship, but in daily existence

In other words, your lifestyle should visibly reflect your devotion.

MIND / STRENGTH — Me’od (מְאֹד)

This is the most misunderstood word.

The Hebrew term me’od, often translated “mind” or “strength,” literally means:
• “very”
• “muchness”
• “everything beyond”

It implies:
• your energy
• your resources
• your intellect
• your effort
• your capacity to produce and increase

To love Yahweh with all your me’od means:
• Loving Him with all your ability
• With your thinking
• With your strength
• With your increase
• With what you build and create

This is not passive belief.
It is intentional devotion expressed through action.

Summary

To love Yahweh with all your:
• Heart — your choices belong to Him
• Soul — your life belongs to Him
• Mind/Strength — your ability belongs to Him

This is what Yahshua meant by the greatest commandment:
Not partial faith, not religious performance, but whole-life surrender.
